Real Wedding: Aparna & Shalindra's Special Day at the St. Regis
September 5th marked the special day for Aparna and Shali. We were ecstatic to have gotten the opportunity to work with the two of them in creating this gold and white beauty.
From the ceremony to the reception and bouquets to centerpieces, we created designs using the purest white flowers we could find. Her bouquet featured luscious white roses, hydrangea, and white orchids with a white satin ribbon handle. We wrapped the white ribbon with gold wire in order to incorporate a wider variety of textures in the overall design.
The ceremony featured beautiful draping by Needle Free Productions at the St. Regis Monarch. Suspended over the couple in the St. Regis' rotunda was a simple yet elegant ring of white hydrangea with all white suspended orchid garlands and crystal droplets. Tying back the beautiful two-toned chiffon drapery were four large white floral cuffs.
The SYED team loves creating new looks that have not been done before and this ceremony featured one of our newest floral designs, the curved swirl arch. Standing at over 8' tall, this all white design featured similar florals with cascading orchid garlands and crystal droplets. They flanked the entrance to the ceremony aisle and were later repurposed to do the same at the reception stage.
The elegant reception featured a modern and geometric overall design.
The wave has been one of our favorite features this year and we added gold leafed glass rods to add an edgy look to the elegant white florals. The beautiful Hollywood linen was used to serve as the base for the design as the lush white florals elevated above the guests and then traveled to and from the tabletop. Mixed in at the base were dozens of clear glass taper candles, golden votives, and petite florals.
This gorgeous centerpiece serves as a perfect example of a look that is light on florals but places an emphasis on the impactful use of glass and art. The clear glass rod with gold tipped chandelier was adorned with white orchid blooms. At the base sat a mixture of petite satellite florals and golden votives.
The backdrop behind the couple featured our wave design in an inverse fashion. Gold leafed glass rods were inserted into the design as well as dozens of white phalaenopsis orchids. Special detail was paid to the balance between glass with gold and white colors. We lined the rims of our glass cylinders with gold that reflected the floating candles beautifully. While the focal point here was clearly Aparna and Shalindra, we think our lush white & gold geometric design is a close runner up! :)
